I had so much fun meeting this beautiful mom to be and charming daddy the other day. We enjoyed an afternoon at my Ofallon IL studio being styled but my makeup artist Karina and a stunning maternity photo shoot to follow. As we sat we got to know a little bit about each other and I could not help but notice her port scar and breast cancer awakens tattoo. I later noticed her beautiful breast cancer necklace and finally got up the courage to ask them had they battled the breast cancer battle, and they replied with a yes…. in 2014 Donna had surgery to remove the tumor then did chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy to prevent it from coming back. After their year long cancer battle Donna was cancer free! The oncologist wanted to chemically induce menopause as part of her treatment but they knew that they wanted to have children. The oncologist recommended that they wait at least 3 years after treatment before trying. When the couple started trying to conceive they immediately noticed something wasn’t right, so they started seeing a fertility specialist. Supposedly the cancer treatment should not have been an issue, but there were complications that could not be explained and so they moved forward with IVF treatment and it took on the first go! I am so happy to have been able to document this miracle bump and am so excited to meet their precious bundle next month!!!
